Cross Hatch Adhesion Test

	Definition	The Cross Hatch Cutter evaluates the adhesion resistance of coatings by cutting a right-angled lattice pattern through the coating to the substrate.

	Significance	1 mm cutter is suitable for coatings under 60 microns 2 mm cutter is suitable for coatings over 60 microns Multiple coatings can be tested for the assessment of the resistance to separation of individual layers of the coating from each other.

Scratch Hardness Test

	Definition	Defined as resistance to indentation or scratching.
	International Standards	ASTM D 2197 BF 3900 D2197 ISO 1518 Range 50 gm to 10 kg
	Significance	The scratching needle is a hardened steel hemispherical tip of 1 mm dia. SHORE Hardness A & D

	Definition	Measures the hardness of the surface of the coating.
	Standards	ASTM D 2240 ASTM D 2240 Fiberglass, Aluminum,Soft Metals,Plastics,Painted Surface
	Significance	Take the measurement at last 12 mm form the edge of the material the material must be at last 6 mm thick Required pressure must be applied for 15 seconds This force should be max 4.55 kg for a type D durometer Meaning of a durometer reading no indent sign :100 If indentation upto:2.5 mm :0 Measurements taken at 12mm from the edge of material Material must be at least 6mm thick

Holiday Detector Test

	Definition	Measures the adhesion bond strength of applied coatings with ease, and precision

	Significance	The adhesion is measured by the tensile pull on a Dolly glued to the coating surface. The force is applied through the centre of the Dolly by a hydraulically loaded pin. This ensures an exactly central point-loading of the force.
